Learn how to add cryptocurrency to your SafeBank wallet so you can start making payments.

Funding Methods

SafeBank offers multiple ways to fund your wallet:

  1. Transfer from another wallet - Send crypto from external wallets
  2. Buy crypto directly - Purchase crypto with fiat currency
  3. Receive from others - Get paid by other SafeBank users or external wallets
  4. Bank transfer - Connect your bank account (where available)

Method 1: Transfer from Another Wallet

If you already own cryptocurrency in another wallet, you can easily transfer it to SafeBank.

Steps:

  1. Get Your SafeBank Wallet Address

    • Open SafeBank app
    • Tap "Receive"
    • Select the cryptocurrency you want to receive
    • Copy your wallet address or show the QR code
  2. Send from Your External Wallet

    • Open your external wallet (Coinbase, MetaMask, etc.)
    • Navigate to "Send" or "Withdraw"
    • Paste your SafeBank wallet address
    • Enter the amount
    • Confirm the transaction
  3. Wait for Confirmation

    • Bitcoin: 10-60 minutes (depending on network)
    • Ethereum: 1-5 minutes
    • USDC/USDT: 1-5 minutes

Important Notes:

⚠️ Always verify the address: Double-check that you're sending to the correct address

⚠️ Match the network: Ensure the sending wallet uses the same network (e.g., ETH on Ethereum network)

⚠️ Minimum amounts: Some networks have minimum transfer amounts

⚠️ Network fees: The sending wallet will charge network fees

Method 2: Buy Crypto Directly

SafeBank allows you to purchase cryptocurrency directly using fiat currency.

Supported Payment Methods:

  • Credit/Debit Cards (Visa, Mastercard)
  • Bank transfers (ACH in US, SEPA in EU)
  • Apple Pay / Google Pay

Steps:

  1. Access Buy Crypto

    • Open SafeBank app
    • Tap "Buy Crypto" on the home screen
    • Or go to Wallet → Buy
  2. Select Cryptocurrency

    • Choose which crypto you want to buy
    • Popular options: BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT
  3. Enter Amount

    • Enter the amount in your local currency
    • Or select a preset amount ($50, $100, $250, etc.)
    • Review the crypto amount you'll receive
    • Check the exchange rate and fees
  4. Choose Payment Method

    • Select your preferred payment method
    • Add new payment method if needed
    • For bank transfers, you may need to verify your bank account
  5. Complete Purchase

    • Review the transaction details
    • Confirm with biometric or PIN
    • Wait for processing

Processing Times:

  • Credit/Debit Card: Instant
  • Apple Pay/Google Pay: Instant
  • Bank Transfer (ACH): 3-5 business days
  • Bank Transfer (SEPA): 1-3 business days

Fees:

  • Credit/Debit Card: 3.5%
  • Apple Pay/Google Pay: 3.5%
  • Bank Transfer: 1.5%

Limits:

Tier 1 (Basic Verification):

  • Daily: $500
  • Weekly: $1,500
  • Monthly: $5,000

Tier 2 (Full KYC):

  • Daily: $5,000
  • Weekly: $15,000
  • Monthly: $50,000

Tier 3 (Enhanced Verification):

  • Daily: $25,000
  • Weekly: $75,000
  • Monthly: $250,000

Method 3: Receive from Others

Receive crypto from friends, family, or customers.

Receiving from SafeBank Users:

If the sender is also using SafeBank:

  1. Share your username or SafeBank handle
  2. They search for you in the app
  3. They send funds instantly
  4. You receive a notification
  5. Funds appear immediately (no network fees!)

Receiving from External Wallets:

If the sender uses a different wallet:

  1. Share Your Wallet Address

    • Tap "Receive"
    • Select cryptocurrency
    • Share via:
      • QR code (scan in person)
      • Copy/paste address
      • Share link
  2. Wait for Transaction

    • Transaction appears as "Pending"
    • Confirmations will be shown
    • Funds available after required confirmations
  3. Confirmations Required

    • Bitcoin: 3 confirmations (~30 minutes)
    • Ethereum: 12 confirmations (~3 minutes)
    • USDC/USDT: 12 confirmations (~3 minutes)

Tips for Receiving:

✅ Always verify the sender before sharing addresses

✅ For in-person transfers, use QR codes

✅ Specify the correct network to the sender

✅ Check the transaction status in your wallet

Method 4: Bank Transfer

Link your bank account for easy funding (available in select regions).

First-Time Setup:

  1. Connect Your Bank

    • Go to Settings → Payment Methods
    • Tap "Add Bank Account"
    • Choose your bank from the list
    • Or use manual account/routing number entry
  2. Verify Your Bank

    • SafeBank will make two small deposits
    • Check your bank statement
    • Enter the deposit amounts to verify
    • Or use instant verification (where available)

Making a Transfer:

  1. Tap "Buy Crypto"
  2. Select amount
  3. Choose "Bank Transfer" as payment method
  4. Select your verified bank account
  5. Confirm the transfer
  6. Funds arrive in 3-5 business days

Benefits:

  • Lower fees (1.5% vs 3.5% for cards)
  • Higher limits available
  • More suitable for larger amounts

Tracking Your Deposits

View Transaction Status:

  1. Go to "Activity" or "History"
  2. Select the transaction
  3. View details:
    • Status (Pending, Confirmed, Complete)
    • Network confirmations
    • Transaction hash
    • Time remaining

Transaction Statuses:

  • Pending: Transaction submitted, waiting for confirmations
  • Confirming: Receiving confirmations on blockchain
  • Completed: Fully confirmed and available
  • Failed: Transaction failed (contact support)

Blockchain Explorer:

For external transfers, you can track your transaction on the blockchain:

  1. Tap the transaction in your history
  2. Tap "View on Blockchain"
  3. Opens blockchain explorer
  4. Shows detailed transaction information

Understanding Fees

Network Fees:

Network fees (also called gas fees) are paid to blockchain miners/validators:

  • Bitcoin: $1-$5 (varies with network congestion)
  • Ethereum: $2-$50 (varies significantly)
  • USDC/USDT: Similar to Ethereum (ERC-20 tokens)

Note: Network fees are NOT paid to SafeBank; they go to the blockchain network.

SafeBank Fees:

  • Receiving crypto: FREE (no SafeBank fees)
  • Buying crypto: 1.5% - 3.5% (depending on payment method)
  • Sending to SafeBank users: FREE
  • Sending to external wallets: Network fee only

Minimum Deposits

To prevent dust transactions and ensure economical use:

  • Bitcoin (BTC): $10 minimum
  • Ethereum (ETH): $10 minimum
  • USDC: $5 minimum
  • USDT: $5 minimum

Troubleshooting

Deposit Not Showing Up

Check the following:

  1. Verify the transaction was sent to the correct address
  2. Check the blockchain explorer for confirmations
  3. Ensure you used the correct network
  4. Wait for required confirmations
  5. Contact support if issue persists

Purchase Failed

Common reasons:

  • Insufficient funds in payment method
  • Card declined by bank
  • Daily/monthly limit reached
  • Payment method needs verification
  • Bank blocking crypto purchases

Solutions:

  • Try a different payment method
  • Contact your bank to allow the transaction
  • Verify your account for higher limits
  • Wait 24 hours and try again

Wrong Network

⚠️ Critical: If you sent crypto on the wrong network:

Example: Sent ETH using BSC network instead of Ethereum network

Steps:

  1. Contact support immediately
  2. Provide transaction hash
  3. Our team will attempt recovery
  4. Recovery is not always possible

Prevention: Always double-check the network before sending!

Security Tips

🔒 Keep Your Funds Safe:

  • Never share your recovery phrase
  • Enable 2FA on all accounts
  • Use strong, unique passwords
  • Verify addresses before sending
  • Be cautious of phishing attempts
  • Only fund from trusted sources
